Carclew

A place to celebrate

Nestled in the heart of North Adelaide, Carclew is a stunning heritage-listed mansion that provides the perfect backdrop for our special day. As a not-for-profit, it has supported young artists and musicians across South Australia since 1971, running inclusive programs and activities that nurture creativity across our community and providing funding for early-career creatives. We loved the idea of our celebration taking place somewhere that has impact and leaves a positive footprint.

Will There Be Dancing?

You bet!

Expect a mix of classics with a couple of swing dance tunes thrown in too. If you'd like to learn a few moves before the big day (trust us, it's easier than you think!), we'd recommend checking out some Lindy Hop videos. If you really want to come prepared, Swing That Thing (where Mary and Adam learned!) offer some great beginner classes to help you get the basics down.

Our Wish List

With love & gratitude

In a world where we consume too much, and we have most things we need, we want this milestone to leave the lightest possible footprint. We don't need anything from you all, it means the world to have you celebrate with us and create new memories. If you do feel inclined to get us a physical gift, we ask that you be sustainable in your packaging, avoid anything plastic/synthetic and keep in mind that we have a small space.

If you'd like some inspiration, we've pulled together a list of things on our registry that would bring us joy and help us continue to support our local businesses, impact and sustainable initiatives and give back to the community. We recommend switching the payment method to "Bank Transfer" (which is free but still allows you to contribute to something specific if you would like) to bypass fees. If you'd prefer the convenience of using a debit/credit card, the platform does charge a processing fee.

"The most important thing in the world is family and love."
Thank you for being part of ours.

Everything You
Need to Know

We've tried to answer all your questions below. If there's anything we've missed, please don't hesitate to reach out.

What is the dress code?

We don't have a particular colour palette or dress code - we'd love you to wear something fun that you feel your most fabulous self in. Be comfortable on the grass and in the outdoors, but keep it classy and elegant. We also encourage you to wear something you already own, or thrift a preloved frock.

Can I bring a plus one?

Due to venue capacity, we're only able to accommodate guests named on the invitation. If you have any questions, please reach out to us directly and we'll do our best to help.

Are children welcome?

While we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration. We hope this gives you the chance to enjoy a well-deserved night out!

Will there be parking nearby?

There is some street parking available around Jeffcott Street, Strangways Terrace and the surrounding North Adelaide streets, however it may be a busy evening of people heading into the city. We also encourage guests to use public transport and rideshare services so everyone can fully enjoy the celebration and we can minimise our footprint. There are plenty of buses that stop just outside and around the corner from the venue, including the free city loop.

Is there dietary accommodation?

Absolutely. When you RSVP using the form on this page, please let us know of any dietary requirements including allergies, pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free or gluten-free needs and we'll ensure the kitchen is informed.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive at 2:30pm so we can begin the formalities at 3pm. The day will be full of celebrations and activities so the day will flow continuously (no breaks). Things will wrap up around 11pm, and we all have to be out of there by midnight.

Where do I enter the venue?

Please enter through the south-western gates. We have marked this on the map included with your invitation, and there will be signs on the day to point you in the right direction.

How do I RSVP?

You can RSVP using the link on this page for yourself and other members in your household, and will have the chance to include any dietaries. If you have any troubles, please let us know. Please also let us know if you have any accessibility requirements so we can make sure you have the best time possible. RSVP by the 1st November.

Can I smoke at the venue?

There is no smoking allowed in any part of the grounds at Carclew, you must leave the property to do so.

Will there be alcohol?

Whilst there will be some alcohol provided on the night, it was important to us that the event felt inclusive for everyone, particularly as neither of us drink much if at all. There will be a range of non-alcoholic beverages available throughout the event, please ask the staff if you have any questions.

Recipe Cards

Instead of a guest book, we've included a recipe card with your invitation. Fill it in with a recipe that means something to you and a few words about why, then bring it on the day. Just ask if you'd like extra cards and we can send them your way.
